You must ensure that you are covered by Personal Accident Insurance for Volunteer/Work Experience Students. This means a company can happily have you as a volunteer without worrying about litigation if you are hurt or injured. Generally, workplaces will not accept volunteers without appropriate insurance.

AIRC may be able to cover you for insurance while you are studying with us. You can also purchase insurance privately. Please check with Enrolments Department at AIRC for details>

IMPORTANT

This course is available to School-based Trainees in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.

You MUST:

• have the agreement of your school to undertake the traineeship
• find employment at a suitable animal care workplace for at least 8 hours per week while you are at school
• sign up to a Traineeship through an Australian Apprenticeship Centre

In this nationally recognised course you will develop foundation knowledge to support your role. This course may be undertake if you have either paid employment or a volunteer position at a veterinary practice for a minimum of 8 hours per week over the duration of the course.
